Crowdfather · Legal
Privacy policy
Crowdfather is a game made by Vectorflow Labs LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the game collects, why, who handles it for us, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it short and plain.
In brief
- The game works without an account. Your progress is saved on your phone.
- We only record how you play (analytics) if you say yes. You can change your mind in Settings at any time.
- Crash and error reports, and the records Unity keeps of sign-ins and purchases, are sent either way.
- If you're signed in to Game Center, a copy of your progress is backed up so you can get it back on a new phone.
- We don't sell your information, show ads, or track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- "Delete my data" in Settings deletes your progress, here and in the cloud, and asks Unity to delete what it holds for you.
1. Information the game collects
On your phone only
- Your progress: your boss's name, Respect, cash, rackets, wardrobe, achievements, daily jobs and a record of anything you've bought, saved in a file on your phone.
- Your settings: sound, music, vibration, notifications, joystick and graphics choices.
- A log of game events: the same events described under "Analytics" below, kept in a file on your phone so the game can work out things like whether it closed unexpectedly. This file isn't sent anywhere by the game.
Analytics, only if you say yes
When you first open the game, it asks whether you'd like to help us tune it. If you say yes, the game sends us information about how you play, through Unity Analytics:
- Game events: rounds started and finished (map, placing, family size, how long), ranks reached, features unlocked, wardrobe items, celebrations and rackets bought with game cash, jobs and the daily take, the steps of the first coached round, whether you allowed reminders and opened one, whether you play signed in to Game Center or as a guest and how your progress and its backup were matched up, achievements earned, opening the shop (and how much game cash you had), and when a session starts or ends unexpectedly.
- When you play and for how long: Unity's own events when the game starts, regularly while you play, and when it stops, and once the first time you play.
- Purchase events: when you buy something with real money, the product, its price and currency, and the store's transaction and receipt details. This tells us how the game is doing; we never see your payment details.
- Identifiers: every event carries an ID created for this installation of the game and an ID for the session. Unity's own events also carry an ID Apple gives the game for your phone (the "identifier for vendor") and, if you're signed in, the ID of your Unity player account (see section 3).
- Device and app details on Unity's own events: the app version, the phone's model and operating system version, your language and region settings, its hardware (processor, graphics chip, memory and screen), and its battery level and volume.
- Your IP address, which Unity uses to work out your country or region.
This information is linked to the installation ID, not to your name or contact details. If you say no, none of it is sent. You can switch it on or off at any time in Settings › Share play data. When you switch it off, anything already recorded is sent, then nothing more.
Crash and error reports, always
If the game crashes, hits an error or freezes, a report is sent to Unity so we can fix the problem. Unity also records play sessions for this. A report contains technical details: what the game was doing, the app and Unity versions, the phone's model, operating system, processor and graphics chip, and an ID for this installation. Unity provides this service without an opt-out.
2. Game Center
Crowdfather uses Apple's Game Center, if you're signed in to it on your phone, for:
- Signing in: there's no separate sign-in or password for the game.
- Leaderboards: your biggest family each week and your total Respect are sent to Game Center, which shows them, with your Game Center nickname, to other players. You'll see other players' nicknames and scores too.
- Achievements: your progress towards each achievement is sent to Game Center.
The game also shows your Game Center nickname in the game and may suggest it as your boss's name. Apple handles Game Center under its own privacy policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/). You can sign out of Game Center in your phone's Settings; the game then saves your progress on your phone only.
3. Your account and the cloud backup
When you're signed in to Game Center, the game sets up an account with Unity Authentication so your progress can be backed up with Unity Cloud Save:
- To create and sign in to the account, the game sends Unity your Game Center player ID for this game and a signature from Apple that proves it. Unity gives your account its own player ID.
- The backup is a copy of the progress file described in section 1, including your boss's name and the record of your purchases. It's updated as you play.
We use the backup to restore your progress on a new phone or after you reinstall the game, and to make sure nothing you've bought is lost when your progress moves between phones. If you play without Game Center, no account is created and nothing is backed up.
4. Purchases
You can buy game cash and other items with real money. Payment is handled by Apple through the App Store; we never receive your card or bank details.
The game uses Unity In-App Purchasing to talk to the App Store. Unity In-App Purchasing sends Unity a record of each purchase (the product, its price, the transaction and receipt), and a record each time the game signs in to your Unity account, along with the installation ID, your Unity player ID, an ID Apple gives the game for your phone (the "identifier for vendor") and device details. These records are sent whether or not you've said yes to analytics. Unity uses them to provide and improve its purchasing service.
We also keep a record of each purchase in your progress (and its backup) so the game can give you what you bought exactly once, and give back anything bought once if you use Restore purchases.
5. Notifications
If you allow them, the game schedules reminders on your phone, for example when new jobs are in. They're set up on your phone itself: we don't send them from a server and don't collect a notification address. You can turn them off in the game's Settings or in your phone's Settings.
6. What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your information, or share it for advertising.
- The game has no ads, and doesn't use your phone's advertising identifier or track you across other companies' apps and websites. If we add ads in future, we'll update this policy and ask for any permission the law or Apple requires first.
- We don't ask for your name, email address, contacts, location or photos.
7. Who handles your information for us
- Unity Technologies (Unity Analytics, crash and error reporting, Unity Authentication, Unity Cloud Save and Unity In-App Purchasing) processes information on our behalf to provide those services. Unity's privacy policy: https://unity.com/legal/privacy-policy
- Apple runs Game Center and the App Store under its own privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
Unity's servers may be in the United States or other countries. Where the law requires it, transfers outside your country are covered by safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
8. How long we keep it
- On your phone: until you use Delete my data or remove the game.
- Cloud backup and Unity account: until you use Delete my data.
- Analytics: Unity deletes individual events after 13 months. Summary figures (such as how many people played each day) and the analytics profile for your installation are kept until you use Delete my data or we delete them.
- Crash and error reports: 90 days.
- Unity In-App Purchasing's records: for as long as Unity keeps them to run its purchasing service.
9. Your choices and rights
- Share play data: switch analytics on or off in Settings at any time.
- Delete my data (in Settings) deletes your progress and settings on your phone, deletes your cloud backup and your Unity account, resets your Game Center achievements for this game, switches analytics off, and asks Unity to delete the analytics data it holds for this installation, which Unity does within 30 days. If your phone is offline, these requests are sent the next time it can reach Unity.
- Crash and error reports, and the records Unity In-App Purchasing sends (section 4), can't be deleted from inside the game. Crash and error reports are deleted after 90 days anyway. To have either deleted sooner, email us at vectorflowlabsllc@gmail.com and we'll ask Unity to delete them.
- Purchases you've made stay with your Apple ID: Apple keeps its own record, and anything bought once can be restored.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask what information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how it's used, to receive a copy, and to complain to your data protection authority. To use any of these rights, email vectorflowlabsllc@gmail.com. We'll answer within the time the law allows, usually 30 days. We won't treat you differently for using them.
If you're in the European Economic Area or the UK, we rely on:
- your consent for analytics;
- the need to provide the game and what you've asked for, such as the cloud backup, Game Center features and purchases;
- our legitimate interests in keeping the game working and secure, for crash and error reports and Unity In-App Purchasing's records.
If you're in California, we don't sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law, and we don't use sensitive personal information.
10. Children
Crowdfather isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has used the game and sent us information, email vectorflowlabsllc@gmail.com and we'll delete it.
11. Security
Information sent to Unity and Apple travels over encrypted connections. Your cloud backup can be read only by the game when it's signed in to your account, and by us when we need to help you, for example to recover lost progress. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we collect to a minimum.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change how the game handles information, for example by adding ads, we'll update this policy and the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll tell you in the game before they take effect.
